Après son titre mondial, Pierre Louis Costes resigne pour 2 ans avec Rip Curl
Le partenariat entre Rip Curl et Pierre Louis Costes est une longue et belle histoire. Soutenu depuis 2002 par la marque australienne, PL a pu se concentrer sur sa passion et son entrainement avec pour seul objectif : devenir Champion du Monde. Rip Curl continue son soutien en resignant Pierre Louis pour 2 ans.
Le palmarès du jeune français en ferait pâlir plus d’un. 6 fois Champions de France des -18 ans, 2 fois Champions de France Open, Champion d’Europe Junior à seulement 14 ans, il ne lui manquait plus que le titre mondial à décrocher.
2011 a vu la consécration du bodyboarder français Pierre Louis Costes (Hossegor, 22 ans). Champion du Monde IBA, 1er champion du Monde ISA (amateur), vainqueur de multiples étapes du tour mondial, Pierre Louis Costes a gravé son nom dans l’Histoire du bodyboard international.
« Je ne pensais pas que cette consécration arriverait si vite » nous confie PL. En 2010, il s’en était fallu de peu pour monter sur la première marche du podium. Ce sera finalement son compatriote Amaury Lavernhe… 2011 sera finalement son année. Double titre mondial (ISA et IBA), PL ne compte pas en rester là.
Aujourd’hui, il garde la tête froide et veut à tout prix atteindre ses objectifs de 2012 : garder son titre de champion du monde, et remporter l’épreuve de Pipeline (Hawaii), récompense ultime dans la carrière d’un bodyboarder professionnel.
Félicitations Pierre Louis, et bonne chance pour ta saison 2012.

This one was one of the best attempts I had, you can see more here what it could look like with more air time.Imagine in the future,people doing them in competitions,who knows how our sport will evolve!
Cette essai fut la meilleure tentative jusqu a présent,sur celle ci,vous pouvez mieux voir a quoi peut ressembler cette manoeuvre avec plus de temps dans l air.Imaginez dans le futur,les bodyboarders tenter des “No Hand Back flips” en compétition,qui sait comment notre sport va évoluer!

This is my next goal, I ve also been working on this, this move really require a perfect ramp,complete one of them will look amazing and I m so amped on landing one,I can t wait to have an other go at it!
Ceci est mon prochain objectif,je travaille aussi dessus en ce moment,cette manoeuvre demande une rampe parfaite,replacer cette figure serai incroyable et je suis super motivé pour la replacer,j ai hate de réessayer!

I ve been invited 2 times before and I finished 2nd and 4th,I ve been close to win but never enough to take the trophy.This year the waves were smaller than the editions before which I think was a good thing,it made us riders being able to do more moves and in the end, it was a better show for everyone.
J ai été invité 2 fois auparavant et fini 2 eme et 4 eme,j ai été proche de la victoire mais jamais assez pour ramener le trophé.Cette année,les vagues étaient plus petites que les éditions précedentes,ce qui je pense fut beaucoup mieux,cela nous a permis de faire plus de manoeuvres et finalement,ce fut un meilleur spectacle pour tout le monde.

Antonio Cardoso and Eliot Morales were the stand-out of the event, Antonio,the local from Nazare finished 2nd and showed everyone he s one of the best european riders today at only 19 years of age.Eliot could have a sticker on him saying show-man,this guy just loves to fly, after tempting the first 720 ever in a contest, he landed one of the biggest air reverse I ever seen and was rewarded a perfect 10.
Antonio Cardoso et Eliot Morales ont été les hommes en forme de l évenement.Antonio le local de Nazaré a fini deuxième et a montré a tout le monde qu il était l un des meilleurs européens a l heure actuel a seulement 19ans.Eliot pourrait etre “stickerisé” : Show man ! Ce gars adore voler,après avoir fait le premier 720 jamais tenté en compétition,il a mis l un des plus gros reverse airs que j ai jamais vu et fut recompensé par la note parfaite : 10 points.

I was vey happy to win,like I said ,it was an event I really wanted to win and it is those kind of competition who make our sport look amazing and I m sure there will many more like this.It s definieltly a good start of the year for me winning the first big event of the year and makes me very confident before heading to Hawaii in February.
Je suis très heureux d avoir gagné,comme je l ai dit,c était une compétition que je voulais vraiment gagner et c est ce genre d évenement qui mette notre sport en valeur et je suis sur qu il y en aura beaucoup d autres.C est bien sur un très bon début de saison pour moi que de remporter le premier gros évenement de l année et me met bien en confiance avant de m envoler pour Hawaii en Février.

It s already been a month since I won the world title , this last 30 days were about resting,share quality time with my girlfriend and my family but also doing my best to promote my world title,a lot of people asked me why I didn t post anything on my website,the true is I couldn t express what I really felt,I thought a internet post was not strong enough to describe my feelings at this moment.
Cela fait déja un mois que j ai remporté mon titre de champion du monde, ces dernières 30 journées ont pour moi été repos, passé du bon temps avec ma copine et ma famille mais aussi faire de mon mieux pour promouvoir mon titre,beaucoup de personnes m ont demandé pourquoi je n ai rien posté sur mon site,la vérité est que je n arrivais pas a expliquer ce je que je ressentais vraiment,je trouvais qu un simple article sur mon site n était pas assez fort pour exprimer mon sentiment a ce moment la.

Now after almost a month I slowly realize what I ve done, I won the world title !!! The ultimate dream when you decide to compete in your sport,when the quarter final against Jared Houston finish and I understood I won, I just remember all the moments I had in my life that bringed me there, at Fronton,with now a world title under my belt, I jut wanted to leave the water, kiss my girlfriend and say how much I love her,hold my sister in my arms,call my parents and tell them ” I did it” ,shake the hand of all my friends and the people who supported me!!! I just wanted to express my joy and celebrate!!!
Maintenant après un mois,je commence doucement a réaliser ce que j ai fait, j ai gagné le titre mondial!!! Le rève ultime quand vous décidez de vous lancer dans un sport, quand mon quart de finale s est terminé contre Jared Houston et j ai compris que je venais de gagner,je me suis souvenu de tous les moments de ma vie qui m ont amené ici , au Fronton , avec maintenant un titre mondial sous ma ceinture,je voulais juste sortir de l eau, embrasser ma copine et lui dire a quel point je l aime,prendre dans mes bras ma petite soeur présente elle aussi,appeler mes parents et leur dire ” j ai réussi ” ,taper la main de tous mes potes et de tous ceux qui m ont supporté !!! Je voulais faire éclater ma joie et célébrer!!!

Winning a world title is hard and there is a lot of hard work behind it, I spent hours and hours in the water no matter the conditions of waves or weather, I had to travel at a very young age and it s not easy to be away from your parents when you re only 12 , I made a choice to stop school when I was 17 to give all my focus into one thing that meant so much to me, I had to do thousands of heats , I had joy competing, I had tears too, I had to always stay strong and learn from mistakes,I never put any limits when I started bodyboarding,I knew inside of me I will be a pro bodyboarder.My parents were very supportive and it was very important,today only I realise how hard it must been for them leaving me at the airport when I was just a kid not knowing if they will see me again,all this for just waves,for training in a sport people barely knows about but who cares I loved that sport,wanted to be world champion and my family beleived in my choices.
On my way to winning the title, I met Rute , my woman and the person I love and want to share my future with ,winning the world title is a reward for both of us,she was there when I won it but she was also there during the hard times when I Iost contests and I was wondering myself if I will be able to do it one day, she was always supportive and had to endured so much stress this year but she was strong and gave me strong,gave me love and an other purpose to win this title,thanks you babie, I love you!!!

Gagner un titre mondial est difficile et il faut travailler dur derrière,j ai passé des heures et des heures dans l eau qu importe les conditions de vagues et du temps,j ai du voyager jeune très vite et ce n est pas facile d être loin de ses parents quand vous avez seulement 12 ans,j ai fais le choix d arrêter l école quand j avais 17 ans pour me concentrer dans un seul objectif qui signifiait tellement pour moi,j ai du faire des milliers de séries,j ai eu de la joie en compétition,j ai eu des larmes aussi,j ai du toujours rester fort et apprendre de mes erreurs,je ne me suis jamais fixé de limite quand j ai commencé le bodyboard,j’ai su au fond de moi que je voulais être pro bodyboarder.Mes parents ont étaient très supportif et ce fut très important,seulement aujourd hui je réalise a quel point cela a du être difficile pour eux de me voir partir alors que je n étais qu un enfant sans savoir si ils me reverront un jour,tout ca juste pour les vagues,pour m entrainer dans un sport que très peu connaisse,mais qu importe,j été amoureux de ce sport, je voulais devenir champion du monde et mes parents croyaient en moi.
Sur le chemin jusqu a mon titre,j ai rencontré Rute, mon amour et la personne avec laquelle je veux vivre mon futur avec,gagner ce titre est une récompense pour nous deux,elle était la quand j ai gagné mais aussi pendant les moments durs quand j ai perdu des compétitions et que je me demandais si j arriverai un jour a remporter ce titre,elle a été supportive et a du enduré tellement de stress cette année mais elle était forte et m a donné de la force,elle m a doné son amour et une autre raison pour gagner ce titre,merci mon amour, je t aime!!

I know this year is gonna be difficult,I will not chase but defend my world title,I will be the one to beat and being at the top is easy compare to staying at the top, there is a lot of hard work ahead but I m very amped , I m so proud to be competing on this new tour, the IBA did an amazing job and it s about us riders to do our best to make the sport of bodyboard look amazing.
Je sais que cette année va etre difficile,je ne chasserai pas mais défendrai mon titre,je serai celui a battre et arriver au top est facile comparé avec le fait de rester au top,il y beaucoup de travail devant moi mais je suis super motivé,je suis très fier d étre sur un tour comme celui ci ,l IBA fait un boulot formidable et c est a nous riders de faire de notre mieux pour donner une image incroyable de notre sport : le bodyboard.

So I was very amped and focus on going how far as possible without thinking too much about the world title,I tried to surf heat by heat,this contest was the hardest of the year and I had very difficult heats in the leaderboard rounds,I was very happy to qualified into the man on man round , the first step was done.
Donc j étais très motivé et focus d aller le plus loin possible sans trop penser au titre,j ai éssayé de sufer série par série,cette compétition était la plus difficile de l année et j ai eu des séries très difficiles lors des tours du Leaderboard,j été très content de me qualifier au tour man on man, c était le premier pas.

When Jason Finlay defeated Jeff Hubbard, It was at this moment I understood I had the power in my hands,I had an opportunity I could t miss,Jason Finlay helped me a lot beating Jeff in order to win the World Title,I was very happy he won the contest also,this guy is such a good bodyboarder and a very good person too, I have a lot of respect for him and I will be always thankful for what he did,pretty much giving me the key of my destiny.
Quand Jason Finlay a battu Jeff Hubbard,ce fut le moment ou j ai compris que j avais le pouvoir entre mes mains,j avais une opportunité a ne pas manquer,Jason Finay m a rendu un grand service pour ma course au titre,J étais très heureux qu il remporte la compétition,c est un bodyboarder tellement fort et une personne en or,j ai beaucoup de respect pour lui et je lui serai reconnaissant a vie pour ce qu il a fait : me donner les clefs de mon destin.

The heat with Eliot Morales from canaries was so hard, he was the favorite of the crowd and he s also one of the best at Fronton,he knows that wave so well and beating him was an other big step made.But it was far to be over for me if I wanted to get the title,I was seeded against Jared Houston in my quarter final,the guy who surfed the best so far in the event,I was very nervous but I just told myself to surf this heat like if it was any other.Jared is able to do everything on the wave and I knew I would need big score to beat him,I was lucky to get that bomb and score a 9,I knew I won the title after this wave.
La série contre le canarien Eliot Morales était très difficile,c était le favori du public et c est aussi l un des meilleurs au Fronton,il connait sa vague tellement bien et le battre fut encore un grand pas de fait.Mais c était loin de suffire pour gagner le titre,j étais contre Jared Houston en quart de finale,celui qui a le mieux surfé cette compétition,j étais très nerveux mais je me suis dis qu il fallait aborder cette série comme n importe quelle autre série,Jared est capable de tout faire sur une vague et je savais que j aurais besoin de gros scores pour le battre,j ai eu de la chance de scorer une bombe et obtenir 9,j ai su que j avais gagné a ce moment la.

In my semi, against Mitch Rawlins I have to say I lost a lot of motivation,all the pression I had went down after the quarters and was hard to maintain my focus,I lost this heat but I was happy to see Mitch reaching the final for his birthday,him too helped me by beating Ryan Hardy,the two guys who beat the others contenders reached in the Final ,what a scenario!
Dans ma série contre Mitch Rawlins,je dois dire que j ai perdu beaucoup de motivation,toute la pression que j avais était redescendu et c était difficile de rester focus,j ai perdu cette série mais j étais content de voir Mitch allait en finale pour son anniversaire,lui aussi m a aidé en battant Ryan Hardy,les deux gars en finale furent ceux qui ont battu les autres prétendant au titre,quel scénario!

I m very happy with that 3 rd place,making a top 4 in waves and conditions like this makes it even more special,I think this contest resume where bodyboarding is at today,it was was an historic event and winning the world title there was the biggest achievement of my career
Je suis très heureux de cette troisième place,finir dans le top 4 dans des vagues et conditions comme ca rend tout encore plus spécial,je pense que cette compétition a résumé ou en est le bodyboard aujourd hui,ce fut un évènement historique et gagner le titre mondial la bas est certainement le plus grand exploit de ma carrière.

The ISA World games are like the Olympic games of surfing and bodyboarding,you get selected to represent your country, the french team was Amaury Lavernhe for the open and drop-knee, Anne cécile Lacoste for the girls and Max Castillo for the juniors.
Les ISA World games sont l équivalent des jeux olympiques du surf et du bodyboard,on recoit une sélection pour représenter notre pays,l équipe francaise était composé d Amaury Lavenhe en open et drop-knee,Anne Cécile Lacoste en ondine et Max castillo en junior.

After 5 days of intense competition,we ended up winning the world title in front of Spain,by far the favourite country.
Après 5 jours de compétition intense,nous avons fini par terminer 1 er au classement devant l Espagne,de loin l équipe favorite, et remporter le titre mondial par équipe.

The final of the open division was one of the best finals I ever been,Amaury started so strong with an 8 and a 9,5, I was able to score a 9 for an air reverse and a 10 pts ride for a backflip,it was an intense final and the victory taste so much better winning this way.
La finale de la catégorie open fut l une des meilleures finale de ma vie,Amaury a commencé très fort avec un 8 et un 9,5,j ai pu avoir un 9 pour un reverse air et un 10 sur un back flip,ce fut une finale intense et la victoire et tellement meilleure quand on gagne ainsi.

I m very proud of my world title and the one of the team,it s great for our sport and bodyboarding in France,I hope this title will help bodyboarding to improve in France,we just realise something very great last week, France was the first country to win the World title of Bodyboarding!!!
Je suis très fier d avoir remporter ce titre ainsi que d avoir remporté le titre par équipe,c est enorme pour notre sport et pour le bodyboard en France,j espère que ce titre aidera a développer le bodyboard en France,nous avons réalisé quelque chose d incroyable la semaine dernière,la France sera le premier pays a remporter le titre mondial en bodyboard.

Au moment meme ou j écris ce post, l IBA du Fronton a déja commencé et j ai fini 2ème de ma première série,donc comme je l ai précisé,pas le temps de célébrer,mais place a la reconcentration.

On the final day, I met Alex Uranga in the quarters then Andrew Lester in the semis.In the final I was agaisnt Hugo Pinheiro from Portugal, Hugo is a very good friend and it was not easy to compete against him,he rips and I always hate surfing against good friends.Anyways,I got lucky with the waves and took the victory over Hugo.
Le jour des phases finales,j étais contre Alex Uranga en quart et Andrew Lester en demi.En finale,j étais face a Hugo Pinheiro du Portugal,Hugo est un très bon ami et ce n était pas facile de surfer contre lui,il déchire et je déteste surfer contre mes bons amis.J ai eu de la chance avec mon choix de vague et fini par remporter l epreuve.

This result might not give me any points for the World Rankings but it always feels great to win a contest, it was a good way also to keep my confidence up and a good opportunity to discover a new place and meet the locals from there who helped me a lot to make my stay as good as possible.MUITO OBRIGADO !!!
Ce résultat ne me donne certes pas de points au classement mondial mais cela fait toujours du bien de remporter une compétition,c est une bonne facon de garder ma confiance haute et une bonne opportunité de découvrir un nouvel endroit et rencontrer les locaux de la bas qui m ont aider a passer un super séjour.MUITO OBRIAGDO!!!
